Kyle McDonald


Kyle McDonald is the owner of Competitive Will Performance Consulting. Through 10 plus years involved in competitive sport, along with his academic background in the fields of sport psychology and leadership (MSc Sport Psychology), Kyle has developed a strategic outlook on mental training and the high performance needs of individuals and organizations. Kyle resides in Regina, SK with his wife Lisa and daughter Piper.

Associate Head Coach, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa                                                                               2011 – 2013

Responsibilities include recruiting of student athletes, player development, completion of on-ice preparation, off-ice preparation and overall coaching/managing at the elite level. Additional program responsibilities include organizing spring tournaments and camps, budget reviews, and marketing and promotional activities for game day operations.

Responsibilities include recruiting of student athletes, player development, completion of on-ice preparation, off-ice preparation and overall coaching/managing at the elite level. Assistant Coach, Team West World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Winnipeg, Manitoba                                    2010

Responsibilities include tactical plans for game preparation as well as team and individual video analysis and compilations.

 

Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager, Notre Dame Hounds, Wilcox, Saskatchewan                              2007 – 2008

Responsibilities included video analysis and video compilation focused on individual development, team systems, opposition scouting, motivation, and game breakdowns (i.e. faceoff possession); the development and implementation of psychological skills training practice planning for individual and team development; and development and implementation of penalty killing and defensive zone training and implementation.

 

Assistant Coach, University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, Canadian Interuniversity Sport                                   2006 – 2007

Responsibilities included video analysis and video compilation, practice planning and carrying out on ice practices, game preparation, individual development, team systems, opposition scouting, motivation, and game breakdowns.

·         Presenter on ‘Mental Toughness in Athletes’ at Alberta Sport Development Center, Northwest Sport Psychology Student Conference, Western Prospects Hockey Development, Professional Goaltenders Development and various hockey organizations and camps.

·         Intern with the Bakersfield Condors of the East Coast Hockey League.

Responsibilities included introducing high performance strategies for intermediate and advanced junior golfers as well an introduction to psychological skills for beginners.
